When I suggested the contest, I had in mind the coming holidays and the new year just around the corner. New Year's is a time for new things, everything starting all over again, just in a slightly or ometimes dramatic fashion. My suggestion is: 1. We use this thread to pose ideas about the theme of the contest. A central theme seems obvious, so everybody will have the same start. 2. In one week, monday the 28th of november, CET +1, the thread will be closed and I open a new thread for contestants to offer their story. (we should discus if you'll be allowed to edit before the deadline). Besides that thread, an OCC thread will be opened as well to keep discussing the story. 3. The new thread will stay open until Christmas eve for people to post their story. After that a poll will be opened with all the contestants names where people can vote for their favorites. 4. The poll will be closed the 31st of december, around midnight cet +1. The winner will be known then... All suggestions are open for discussion. If anyone has a better idea, an addition or a completely different idea, please say so.. If we can agree on the rules, the contest can start soon. Again I'd like to emphasize the generous prices the A-team offered. Thanks! I hope this will become a tradition during this time of year... *edited to correct a 'blonde' mistake (no offense intended. @Tight: every point is clear and i think something about purpouse for the new years can be a good point to a common start. Everyone can evolve it in different way, but i think it can work.
Maybe i have something in my mind, but to write it....let's see what happend!

Mmmm, thinking again.....the only thing i have not clear is how long can be a story whit 5000 words. I know in some countrys it's an abit to give to student a relation or similar whit a certain amount of word (it's not usually here in Italy), so i'm not sure how it can be.
Anyway, my question is: 5000 words is the max amout of words we have to use or the story must be of 5000 words!? i think the first option will be more easy forn non english peoples too...

I will open a threaqd in this section coming monday. Everyone participating, can enter their stories there. And please, oly the stories. I will open a second thread or we keep this one, to comment, discuss or leave whatever posts we want. The entry dates for stories will be 28th of november until 24th of december. After that date, no more new stories will be accepted and a poll will be created. Votes can be made until the 31st of december, winner and runners up will be known the 1st of january. There will be no seperate section on forum for it, so I will create the threads. The dev-team already told me they don't have extra manpower to create anything for us.. So dates are: 28th of november: Opening contest 24th of december: Deadline for sending in stories 24th of december: Opening of voting poll (so all stories will be voted for at the same time, to adavanages for early senders) 31st of december: Closing of poll 1st of january: Winner and runner up are named and rewarded with their price (though the last is in the hands of the A-team) Hope this is enough info for everyone. If not, feel free to ask, suggest, oppose, etc.. What we normally do here  |

Ah, the length of the story.. I suppose the stories shouldn't be too long, so that all will be read. I suggested 5000 words, which is about 6 A4 pages (european) or 7-8 US sized pages (us uses shorter sheats of paper). I think 3000 words should be enough but I do like some feedback on what others consider reasonable.. Anyone else with an opinion about the length?

lol... double spaced? I think 5000 reasonable upper limit. You have to give some leniency due to possible translation issues. I am presuming you desire the submissions to be made in English? Or our you giving leeway to other languages?

mmmmh, allowed other language mean use a translator and they aren't allways perfect, u know. better do it in english
