Hi Friends!
We would like to issue translations for AChat . That means all menus and texts could be appear translated.
Just the translations are missing. ;D
Here we need your help. If anybody would like to contribute a translation, we will add it to AChat as additional language version. We are looking for help for the following languages: French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish
How can you translate the program? It is rather simple. In the AChat directory under prog_data you can find a file named texts.txt. Open this file with Notepad, translate it using your national character set (not only English characters can be used) , and save it with encoding 'Unicode' (there is an option in Notepad under 'Save As...'). Warning! If you don't choose Unicode encoding you can loose your national characters!!
The result can be seen in AChat immediately, so you can check the result continuously.
WARNING! Upgrades can overwrite this file, so please keep it on a safe place, not only in the prog_data directory!!
It is possible, that some national charcters will not displayed in AChat, but these will be added soon, so the translated text can contain them.
Could you please help to improve AChat experience?
You can send the translations here: achat.translation@gmail.com
Regards,
tom

Tom,
If you ever need any help on translating to Dutch, just let me know. Always glad to help.
I'll let the other languages to the native speakers.
-
Hi TightFit74,
yes, if you can help with Dutch, we will be happy. Just I am not sure we will have all needed special characters.
Regards,
tom
-
Ok Tom,
I will translate to German.
-
Tom,
No special characters needed. I'll translate the whole file? How do I get it for you?
-
Good thing your not considering Achat in swedish, I don't want it in swedish and most swedes are quite good at english. Might be because movies and foreign programs are not dubbed, they just add subtitles.
-
If we have done it, which is the best way to send the file to you?
-
Adera, if you can choose your language, you may keep the english one ;) but for many people it will be helpful.
-
Yes I know, but there's no need for swedish in achat anyway there are far too few swedes here. I know that there are lots of people from France, Germany, Spain, etc that are not very good at english and it will probably be really good for them to have this option.
Btw I don't like to watch tv in countries where they dub alot.
-
Guys, the translation is for the program itself, the ones who find their own language useful, will probably find people who speak their native tongue and not mix in with the "englsih" pool. I think the more languages available, the better...
-
Yeah most try to find people with whom they can comunicate with, but I had a Portugese guy try to hook me up in portugese. I told him I didn't understand but he continued so i checked what he told me in google translate and it was quite rude. Anyway I just ignored him in the end.
Btw I think there are alot of users who would like Achat in russian.
-
Well, I finished a first version of translating it to dutch, not a small job, about 531 lines to translate. And as I was running AChat a couple of times to adjust the text, AChat started crashing. Maybe I used some unauthorised character in the text that I should have avoided? Would be nice if someone could go over the text and check for bugs? I'm not a programmer...
-
TightFit74!
Please send the translation to the above given mail address, and we will check it.
Regards,
tom
-
If we have done it, which is the best way to send the file to you?
I have added the E-mail address to the original post.

-
Tom,
the translation is in your inbox (first draft).
I still have to adjust some sentences or words to fit them in the supposed windows, but I can always do that later or send you a revised copy. Let me know if you find anything that interferes with running AChat. Regards,
Tighfit74
-
The German version is in your inbox. Tested as far as possible. If I will find errors during the daily use I will change it.

Tom,
a friend offered his help if you want a swedish translation as well. Let me know if you want it, then I'll ask him to do the translation.

-
For a proper Swedish translation we'd also need the letter 'å' added.
-
Well 'å' would be good when chatting with other swedes.
-
Hi yasonline,
if you make the Turkish translation we will add the required characters!
Regards,
tom
-
Yes Tom, I can translate it gladly ^^
-
I started to converse with my playmates by using google translator. The problem is that I cannot cut and paste. is there anyway to go around to it?
-
Hi Tom,
Translated file is ready and sent to your inbox, I checked all words by words, there is no problem at the moment but im worry about how its works on the software, It should be nice if i test the turkish version to checking for any mistake before publishing :)
Best Regards

@eroticmind
First of all welcome tot the forum! As to copy and paste: there have been lengthy discussions about the copy+paste function being removed (it was possible at first). Because of an epidemic of bots and scammers, they tried to make théir lives miserable by disabling the copy*paste function so they can't send lots of messages o bother us honest users. There is no way to get around it...

If it can be helpful i can translate in Italian Language

I will translate everything on Great and Mighty Russian. In any quantity of variations and language styles.

I'm available if you need french translation ;) for anything
-
Volunteer for french translation, especially if I can team work with Kalina ;p
-
Available for french translation too... lol, seems lot of candidates out there :D
-
I have a translation to spanish half done...although it would be nice to have some specific characters for it. the spanish "ñ" is missing (which is kind of strange when you have to say things like "tomorrow" or even "cunt" if you're feeling graphic).
What I'd like to know is if there are any issues with message lenght, because some texts end up being quite longer in my language. I'll check the effect when I'm done, but it would be nice to know in advance.
Anyone has any experience in this?
Thanks in advance

@Runeman
When I did the dutch translation, I encountered the same problems. If you are doing this by request of the dev-team, they will review your translations and define where the text doesn't fit the window or space. It was quite some work to get everything at the right length, but it was doable. They didn't widen or add more space to the diverse windows for the text to fit. Hoping this will answer your question a little.
Tight
P.S. welcome to the forum!
-
Runeman70, thank you for your efforts.
Of course, you can send parts of your work to us, just PM Tom or me, we'll review that, and give you the needed hints.
-
Hi,
more specific characters were added, Spanish and Swedish translation can work better now. Please tell us if we can help with other characters or with additional information.

Thank you, Tom......a kiss for u!
-
Rukya, do you know if any French user made the translation? Perhaps you can contact kalina, prias and stat to ask...
or Tom or Suzy answer here to this question.
-
any news about french translators?
-
dunno.....Tom, Susy!?
-
Regarding this, we are looking for volunteers.
-
You justz have to find a french-english speaking person, well enough to translate all files. I'm not able to, my French is much too bad.
-
Hello Tom, Susy, Lover... and members !
Am I reading that the french translation is getting... well... not so well ? if so, I volunteer to restart/start the job.
I'm french native (and lifetime living) with a pretty good reading in english (but bad speaking, and worst writing, as you shall perceive ! )
But speaking/writing/reading french i'm not so bad.
I already started, to see the feasibility, and i think i can pursue the job to the end, like a good girl.
By the way, did you have some prévious unfinished translated matérial ? That could help.
Of course i will need some proofreaders later to refine the work... And perhaps some place to discuss with them on hard-to-translate words.
Do you feel thrilled ? oops sorry, i meant, do you agree ?
-
Hello Kind peoples of the DreamWorld's forum.
... I may be volontary too.
I am french speaking ( native ) but I am not very skilled in english. But I may review translation.
I am some kind often here, and I may help if you want.
Please accept my best regards .
-
My suggestion to all possible translators:
Send an email to support or a pm to Suzy and Tom and offer your help. It might be better then just to post it here.
-
Wouf wouf Chien_Lubrik ;) ton "best regard" sera précieux pour débugger le travail... (okay okay that was a bad joke)
Je peux déja te mp quelques soucis que j'ai rencontrés ?
@Lover thank you for the advice. I'll do it !
-
Bonsoir
Bien sur, avec plaisir, si je peux aider , c'est sans probleme.
Humblement.
-
The text for translation, can be found in the root direcrtory of achat, in the folder: prog_data. The name of the file is: texts.txt
-
Hello TightFit74
Is that mean if I change the language of the text.txt file, that will translate the Client?
Please accept my best regards.
-
Evelyn,
Yes. If you change the words in the texts.tx file, the text in the game changes. I would advice you, when you start translating, to save the file under a different name and in a different folder.
As the game uses the file as a database, the numbers in front of the text must remain the same. Also it is important to take the amount of letters in a sentence into account. The space is limited in the game, and if the translated sentence is too long, it will not fit the window in the game. It is not too much work, making sure the lines fit, does require some creativity.
Good luck and if you have more questions.. :)
-
I would add to TightFit recommandations, that some accented letters are already supported by the AChat Client
é è à for the most used, even É
but many other are not and may cause display bugs
as: ê ë and so on

Rubella, you are right....as italian naturally speaking, i use lot of accented letters, so it was necessary ask to the dev-team to add them.
and if it necessary, adding other letters to make the chat works better, i think they gonna do it for sure!
-
Hi Rubella,
we don't have French translation yet, so I cannot show any material which could help. As mentioned, the file 'prog_data\texts.txt' should be translated. It uses unicode, so the special characters should work fine in this file. Other question is the special French characters missing from AChat. Could you please list the missing characters (which will not be displayed right when you type in text in the chat input field)!
Regards,
tom

I can help translating it to portuguese.
Just let me know if you need any help.
-
Welcome Marilyn :)
If you want to translate to portuguese just do it and send the file to the A-Team. This is part of the original message of Tom:

Open this file with Notepad, translate it using your national character set (not only English characters can be used) , and save it with encoding 'Unicode' (there is an option in Notepad under 'Save As...'). Warning! If you don't choose Unicode encoding you can loose your national characters!!

Romanian translate would be nice :) .
-
If you want a Romanian translate, the best solution is to do it :)
With french friends, I have create a french translate.
We were finished it last week, I post it last week-end and currently there are a french pack extension :)
It's not very difficult:
- copy file C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\AChat\prog_data\texts.txt to texts_ro.txt
- open texts_ro.txt with notepad
- And translate all text.
- Try it with AChat
=> Warning, you can to have size sentence problem.
I hint you to translate this file with other romanian people.
And when you are ok for your translate, send it in team support: a new language pack will be created :)
-
