You can search for people with the "Partner Search" button at the top. When you have found someone you like, you can click the "Select to chat" button to talk to them.

A piece of advice if you're trying to get in touch with the girls. Be patient. Most of them are crazily busy. It seems we still have 3-4 guys on every girl and far more homo- and bi-sexual females than men, so there'll most likely be a lot of trying and waiting.
I know it's sad news to give to a new member, but don't lose hope. There are a lot of nice people around once you get in touch with them. :)

We made a user quick start guide, maybe this helps you:
#1. The only thing you should ever do to another person without giving them some sort of indication is "Select to Chat".
While you aren't promised a response I've yet to hear of anyone getting angry over a hello. Many however will get angry if you try to invite them into rooms without asking, AND getting their permission first. Do not invite people to room before talking to them, otherwise it’s called a "Cold Invite" and is considered VERY rude. At best they won't react, but many will put you on their ignore list.
#2. Take a few seconds to fill out your profile, and to read theirs.
Straight guys are going to waste time with homo women, and vice versa. Many times a few seconds worth of reading will let you know if you have odds of getting laid, or just getting ignored.
Profiles will also help you know what you might want to do to get them to talk to you, and what might lead them to put you on their ignore list. You don't have any idea? Just take a look around and read other avatars. And you may ask other people; most are friendly and will help you.
#3. You aren't OWED anything.
No one is obligated to go with you to a room (except RobotBoy and RobotGirl.) No one is even obligated to talk to you. If you act like they are chances are your going to have them demonstrate how they are not by ignoring you. It is up to you to convince them to WANT to talk or room with you.
#4. Keep in mind the language barrier.
If you are a native speaker of English that doesn't mean they are, and if you aren't a native English speaker you aren't obligated to be. Hopefully you can work out some means of communication, but if not that's nobodies fault.
#5. If you don't get an answer after starting to talk wait a little. Now this doesn't mean they don't want to talk to you. It could simply mean that they are either busy, or even away from the computer, and all you are doing is giving them reason to not want to talk to/room with you. Be patient, give them time to reply, it increases your odds of actually getting a response. And don’t start to talk to many people at the same time. Maybe you can’t handle if all answer to you;-)
#6. Treat people as you want to be treated. The best way to have real fun is to be as natural as possible.
#7. Use the search-funktion. If you only wanna find people from your home country click on "Partner Search" and fill your home country in the "Country" field. Achat will filter the members and will show you the members who have the searched country in there profile

Also does anyone just chat regular without talking about sex? I know achat is oriented for that. But there are sometimes that you are not looking for sex but just for chatting and meeting new people. Or maybe I should use a different program for that?? Any recommendations? I tried Second Life but the graphics don't look very good, and I wasn't all into making items and such.
Also is there a general chatting channel or room? Or do you have to private message people to get any conversation going? I find that part weird. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place? I don't see any 'general chatter' or something like that.

I do regular chats all the time... some will try to pull it to heading to a room, but I have yet to have a truly negative reaction to. "I'm actually just in the mood to chat, sorry hon."
So yes you can, but at this level of chat interface it's between you and the one you are chatting with.

Of course there are members who just chat. But maybe its helpful to agree together. And sometimes I just went into the room to chat, if I my partner and I have been "disturbed" too much. But this depends on the wishes of your and your partner.
Everything is possible. Just try, start and see what will happen.

AZNLover, just keep trying! I love a good chat and do it all the time in the main area, sometimes the guys don't like it but most do and don't mind me wanting to get to know them a little better before doing an invite.
Feel free to drop me a line if you see that I am on. If I am not to busy, I will gladly chat with you and who knows what else....time will tell!

You have to be patient when talking to girls. Its not uncommon for me to have 5-6 conversations going with different people at any given time. As for non sexual chat I probably spend 75% of my time chatting about non sexual stuff. Ill even go into a room just to get away from cold invites and people asking for nude pics. I personally wish they would add chat rooms where you could talk to a large group of people without having to switch between different convos.

They had it before, and we're hoping they'll be bringing it back when they come up with a way to counter all the spammers.

i think a vider vareity of "buttons" could solve some problems like a "im busy-button", i dont like the current ignore one i have to take and some friends actually gets annoyed when i dont answer. maybe they could implement a "status-button" like: "chat only", "chat but could be convinced otherwise" :P "available to friends", "available to premiums only" and finally available to all" etc. this will reduce the spam to a level of ur own liking.

I think it would be a great addition if you could stay 'out of the spotlights' when you log on. Either to work on your avi or to talk with friends, without others being able to approach you in chat or by invites. So, besides the red, yellow and gree, maybe they could add purple or pink to signify "I'm busy"...

i c i wasnt clear enough in my last post, sorry but im not native eng speakin.
1. the "busy-button" would hide u from all users, exept the ones u r already chatting with and can be used when u go to the editor to ;)
2. the "friends button" only shows u to friends, lovers and spouses and maybee the ones tht actually searches ur name.
3. the "available to all button, well.... ;)
besides this i d like to have:
1 interested in chat only
2 interested in play

Hmm I think the busy button should make you uninvitable but chatable, then the colds would stop at least but we'd have to live with the bad pick up lines. I think it would be quite good since you might actually stumble upon someone who is nice. :P

agree, but u know, u r at tht point were u dont want anymore to start talking to u since u r already chatting with enough friends, or just one special ;) if u wanna be available to others chose another button, lol ...... but dont call me :( *giggle* (ha en underbar kväll älskade)

I was going to make a joke and say "get a room!" only here, you can! Besides, I don't know you well enough (at all) for that kind of joke. I tried everything when i started. All the wrong things. Put newbie in my headline, HELP, lots of other things. nothing worked. and NOBODY talked. I finally put up sign $100 to whoever helps me get this stupid fucking hat off! I met a nice lady, we chatted, she showed me how the rooms worked. And now, for whatever reason, more and more are saying hello. Could be the "Must chat before invite" sign i put up. I don't know. Now i come in, see who said hi, and send them an answer. Be creative, just like real life.

I've honestly taken to be quite suspicious about people saying they're new and want to see how rooming and such works... I don't want someone tricking me into a room and then just beating of on the other end.

A willingness to join in 3some play of mmf is another good approach to meeting partners, post such in your banner and it is likely that you may be approached. It's a random gamble, much like a cold invite, however if you display creativity the partners are often willing to introduce you to others in order to broaden the social circle. Good luck there... and hang in there it takes time sometimes...

Thanx, Adera... Anyway, I got several responses, just msgs telling me how to get the hat off, without paying. It was my sending thanks to the helpers which got the real response. No recompense was requested, though i DID show my appreciation. I am impulsive. I bought premium membership, then found out i couldn't make the game work. It isn't 'user friendly' to a non-gamer. I uninstalled it 4 times before deciding, to hell with it, I'm getting my money's worth out of it, lol. anyway, off topic, i guess. Bear's idea is good, too! Be creative.

i also love to chat and not about sex, lol is fun to get to know someone. interesting and often amusing..
i have found if u search for a talkative partner, you can find more regular chatters that way.
hope this helps you.. but do understand if your chatting to a female, chances are you will have to wait your turn..

i do get three and four guys trying to talk with me at the same time .i try to be equally nice to all them but sometime one or two will get rude.so please guys be patient

Talking from the guy's side I can understand it can be frustrating not receving a response but most of the guys never took a pick on how many guys are in here, so unless u tell them that u regualry receive many messages they won't understand. Personally I'd chat with anyone, metting new people is always fun and exciting and you never know maybe u'll find a good friend to share your thoughts with ;D
That been said it's kinda hard with all theese guys coming up with something origianl to say to cinvince the other person you're worth a chat, too many competitors for girl's attention lol

Well, looking at my personale experience whit a Sh avatar, i can say i allways receive different cold invite, even from free girls (who probably are guys!? some, probably yes!) and other trying to chat whit me. sometimes it happend i chat whit 3 of them at a time, but the problem is sometimes i forget to change the name before send message..... eh eh!
and yes, sometimes just chatting is nice too, fantasy. plus, if you know more about your usual partners (well, this is for me), u can build a more better feeling whit them and you can find a pretty nice way to give them pleausere....and obvious, have it back from them!

Those two little letters basically scream to me that you are just running down the line trying to get any female there to talk to you. Or even if I caught your eye in some way I didn't manage a second word or a third letter.
The opposite end is bad too when a guy makes it clear he's after me sexually... clearly have "homo" in my profile, and while yes there are women who put that to filter out the guys trying to pick them up by ignoring it only makes the problem worse.
Which is why I also have "Gay means gay." in that same message section.
I understand that it might be hard to find someone to talk to, but I'm sorry that's just the nature of chatting, period.

I like to chat on AChat, but all too often too many are "humping legs" to try to get things warmed up for rooming rather then "chatting first".

If someone I don't know wants to grab my attention they have try try harder than with just a "Hi" or I wont feel like responding... unless I'm messing with them only answering to that and the inevitable "How are you?" followed by... nothing mostly.

Who is that stupid? Is already so hard getting a reply here that not responding to one it's just stupid! And it's just stupid even trying to get in a room with someone who has HOMO in her profile.......I get that convicing a lesbian to get with you if u're a guy can be an interesting challenge but 99% of the time u won't make it lol beside that homo or not chatting first is what this game is based on so personally i don't care how many colds or who sends it I won't accept period. Making a connection is what matters to me wether or not the chat it's followed by rooming ( I hardly invite a girl in a room the first time we meet ) if I managed to meet a new person and had a nice chat I'm happy ;D

Also, always wait a few minutes after sending a msg. At least one or two. it may take them a moment or two to finish what they are saying to someone else. worse than cold invites, i HATE when someone says hi or whatever, i reply within 10 or 15 seconds and have my reply bounced back because the sender is in a room.

I agree with Chasxxx... sometimes, well most times, I have a lot of chats going on (chatterbox here), and the messages seem to fly by. I usually see the "Hi, how are you?" but sometimes I don't respond right away, then when I do that person is already transported into a room.

Many of those that just say "Hi" and then "How are you?" aren't really looking for someone to chat with... they just want to have sex. Being quiet works well irl since you can let your bodies talk but here it gets kinda boring with the mute ones imo. ::)
