Well said Hukk... our house becomes a divided house during the season. One is a Giants fan... One is a Packers fan and one is a Colts fan (with the reasoning of "I like their uniforms").
The game has evolved, Old Goat, but always think that the NFL is just entertainment and enjoy the pagentry and the fun of it.

The reality is I am more of a college football fan... much fonder of the pageantry , tradition and passion of the game at a non-professional level.
Had a chance this weekend to scoot across the border... ok not scoot necessarily it was a 700 mile drive all night and into the morning,.. to catch the Oregon MSU game a last minute gift of tickets to a friend. Had a great time, and when they debuted Mat Kearney's song, (see referenced video) it was a special moment, that left a lot of older quacker-backers from out of state returning to Autzen a bit teary eyed...

After discussing with my fellow mods we have decided it would be fun to turn this topic into a contest.
1 Everybody who wants to play will pick a NFL team more than one player per team is OK
2 I will subtract the first 3 games that have already been played so everybody starts even.
3 The overall winner will be the team with the best win and loss record for the regular season.
4 The overall winner gets to choose banners and dress for the losing teams
5 Weekly side wagers and trash talk is encouraged.

As often said... football is a game of inches,... we just use those inches differently around here. It is getting a little heated in here... Stone may have to continue acting as Jayc's proxy to protect him
Hukk I wouldn't give Dallas too much credit yet, Until the Seattle game they had not beaten anyone with a winning record (that I know of)
Seattle is in an offensive funk... they aren't playing the same game plan they used last year and it shows.I honestly think Dallas caught them at an opportune time.
Philly has and will be a playoff bound team. Whether they do anything beyond that is unlikely. Seasons early and the Giants have a chance to right matters.

As for Eva, you don't know what you're missing. Eva is NOT like any other Robot Girl. I have managed to get into her programming and she now picks some of the actions and her speech is much more involved, though I'm still having troubles quieting her servos.
And I really don't know what you two were thinking... I was thinking a game of footsies, but Miss Stone... a dance with you would be a dream come true. Wait... which dance? The slow dance or the Mr. Bean dance? We can rule out the dances that involve nudity, because a man has only so much self control.
I would also be willing to have a game of footsies with you Jayc, but you have to promise to clip your toe nails before hand.
And now for the points.... hmmm... 15 is a lot of points. The current Vegas line is Bears getting 7. Which puts us at an 8 point difference. However since I'm feeling confident (which usually spells disaster for me) I would be willing to meet you at half way of the differential. What I mean is: 7 from 15 leaves 8. Half of 8 is 4... add that to the current Vegas line of 7 and we have 11 for the point spread. That is still two scores for the total and two scores over the current Vegas line.

... a brief explaination of point spreads.
How the Point Spread Works:
When two teams meet on the playing field, one team is typically better than the other. If all sports gamblers had to do was to pick the winning team in a game, everybody would simply wager on the best team and collect their money.
Using an example from Week 2 of the 2007 NFL season, the Atlanta Falcons were visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars. There was little doubt Jacksonville was the better of the two teams and if all one had to do was to pick the winning team, nearly every bettor would have taken the Jaguars.
What the sportsbooks and bookies did, however, was to create a point spread, to make both teams equally attractive in the eyes of bettors.
In this case, Jacksonville was installed as a 10 point favorite, which is commonly written as Jacksonville -10. Atlanta, the underdog, is commonly written as Atlanta +10.
If you bet the favorite, Jacksonville, the Jaguars have to win by 11 points or more in order for you to win your bet. Remember, the Jaguars are favored by 10 points, so we subtract 10 points from their final score for betting purposes. If Jacksonville were to win 24-13, Jaguar bettors would win their wager. If the Jaguars were to win 23-14, Jacksonville bettors would lose because they did not win by more than 10 points.
If you bet the underdog, the Atlanta Falcons, you win your bet if the Falcons win the game or if they lose by 9 points or less. Because the Falcons are the underdogs, we add 10 points to their final score for betting purposes.
If the Jaguars were to win the game by exactly 10 points, 24-14, it would be a tie or a push and all wagers are refunded to bettors.
Jacksonville did defeat Atlanta as expected, but the Jaguars failed to cover the point spread when they won by a score of 13-7.
