Title: Covid 19 / Corona Virus

Shout out to all out fabulous medical staff,  supermarket staff and other key workers keeping everything ticking over as this pandemic ravages our world.

Dont under estimate its seriousness please.

It started in Wuhan China,  in Nov 2019  and spread across the world in a few months.   

This virus is so infectious it will spread through Communities.  All we can do is manage the spread so our poor medical staff and hospitals can cope and thus save lives.

Please self isolate, only go out when necessary and stop hoarding items.   Together we will get through it. Please work together on this -  stop unneccesary travel and  no social gatherings, whether on purpose or by accident.

"Life should not feel normal and if it is, you should ask yourself ... Am I doing the right things to keep me and others safe?"

A south Wales council has closed its parks and public spaces until further notice due to "grossly irresponsible" behaviour.

Country parks and other parks, play areas, car parks, coastal resorts and public conveniences will now be closed in response to the Covid-19 outbreak.

This is in response to people's behaviour at the weekend, when there was a large influx of visitors to most popular sites.

Despite the  advice to avoid large social gatherings,  a large number of people ignore the advice.

Such behaviour is grossly irresponsible and risks making an already serious situation even worse.

This silliness kills.  To the people, who think you are an exception - you are not. Stop being selfish, you are killing people by flouting these rules.

Why?  To save lives  and to give our hospitals and Medical staff a chance to  deal with patients and not be overwhelmed with ill people.

Some places are starting to ease lock down restrictions  but please be careful.

Look at South Korea who opened up pubs and clubs. They have a brilliant  Trace and track App for tracing the infection - Covid 19. A 29 year old has infected 86 people on a night out so far.

Its shows the brilliance of the App and high lights how dangerous and infectious this Covid 19 is.

As a consequence, South Korea has shut down again.

This should be expected though in any ease of restrictions.

Masks could be a useful tool in stopping the spread of the infection.  Obviously the medical profession and carers will need them before the general population but we can make our own.

Wearing a face mask won’t protect you from contracting COVID-19. However, it can help prevent you from spreading the virus to others.

Recommendations include:

Wear cloth face masks in public settings, especially in areas of significant community-based transmission, such as grocery stores and pharmacies.
Don’t put cloth face masks on children under the age of 2, people who have trouble breathing, people who are unconscious, or people who are unable to remove the mask on their own.
Use cloth face masks rather than surgical masks or N95 respirators, as these critical supplies must be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders.
Healthcare professionals should exercise extreme caution when using homemade face masks. These masks should preferably be used in combination with a face shield that covers the entire front and sides of the face and extends to the chin or below.
NOTE: Wash homemade cloth masks after every use. When removing, be careful not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth. Wash hands immediately after removing.

Benefits of homemade face masks

Cloth face masks can be made at home from common materials, so there’s an unlimited supply.
They may lower the risk of people without symptoms transmitting the virus through speaking, coughing, or sneezing.
They’re better than not using any mask and offer some protection, especially where social distancing is hard to maintain.

Risks of homemade face masks

They may provide a false sense of security. While homemade face masks offer some degree of protection, they offer a lot less protection than surgical masks or respirators. One 2008 studyTrusted Source indicated that homemade face masks may be half as effective as surgical masks and up to 50 times less effective than N95 respirators.
They don’t replace or reduce the need for other protective measures.

Proper hygiene practices, washing hands regular for at least 20 seconds and social distancing are still the best methods of keeping yourself safe.

Here's a couple of tutorials for makig masks.  I'm going to make myself 3 tomorrow - 1 to wear in public, 1 clean one for next use and 1 for the wash.

I feel compelled to share this...makes sense to me.

Let's say you woke up with a terrible cough, a fever, and severe body aches. Immediately, you rush to the doctor and unfortunately, you’re diagnosed with COVID-19. For the last two weeks, you’ve been unaware that you were infected and you’ve ignored "the rules." You've gotten together with some close friends for pizza, had a few people over, even visited a park and a beach. You figured, “I don’t feel sick. I have the right to keep living my normal life. No one can tell me what to do."

With your diagnosis, you spend the next few days at home on the couch, feeling pretty crappy; but then you’re well again because you’re young, healthy and strong. Lucky you. But your best friend caught it from you during a visit to your house, and because she didn't know she was contagious, she visited her 82-year-old grandfather, who uses oxygen tanks daily to help him breathe because he has COPD and heart failure. Now, he’s dead.

Your co-worker, who has asthma, caught it too, during your little pizza get-together. Now, he’s in the ICU, and he's spread it to a few others in his family, too--but they won't know that for another couple of weeks yet.

The cashier at the restaurant where you picked up the pizza carried the infection home to his wife, who has MS, which makes her immunosuppressed. She’s not as lucky as you, so she’s admitted to the hospital because she’s having trouble breathing. She may need to be placed in a medically-induced coma and intubated; she may not get to say goodbye to her loved ones. She may die surrounded by machines, with no family at her bedside.

All because you couldn't stand the inconvenience of a mask; of staying home; of changing your familiar routines for just a little while. Because you have the right, above all others rights, to continue living your normal life and no one, I mean no one, has the right to tell you what to do.

Today we have the tale of four friends, Mike, Carl, Linda, and Kim.

Mike is a responsible guy. He wears his mask, and he gets the vaccine as soon as he's able. Mike is one of the luck 95% of people who will become immune to COVID after being vaccination. Yay Mike!

Carl isn't quite as lucky. He gets vaccinated, but he's part of that unlucky 5% of people (that's one in every 20 for those of you who prefer that representation) who doesn't become immune. He doesn't know it yet, but he's still at risk.

Linda is more cavalier about things. She doesn't wear her mask except in crowded stores, and she's damned sure not getting vaccinated because she read on Facebook that there is a microchip hidden inside the vaccine and it's the "mark of the beast". Linda, is likely to get sick.

And then we have Kim. Kim is the friend who will tell you all about how her civil liberties won't be infringed upon. She will not wear a mask. She will not get vaccinated. She will be a danger to society, because Kim is a fucking cunt.

These four friends happen to work together. And on a beautiful and cold January morning, Kim comes to work not knowing she is sick with COVID. She hasn't presented symptoms yet. She has no fever. But she is carrying a viral load in her lungs and respiratory system.

And Kim, being the cunt she is, says hi to Mike. And yes, she passes the virus on to Mike. It's not a big deal, right? Mike is immune. But that doesn't mean Mike can't carry the virus to the next person. Poor Mike.

Mike has lunch with Carl. Neither one wears their mask because they are both vaccinated. YAY for Mike and Carl. But Carl is one of those unfortunate people who won't become immune, he's the one in 20, and he's about to learn that, because immune Mike has passed the virus along to him with a little cough. Mike wasn't sick, he just drank his soda at lunch to fats and choked a bit. And now Carl has a deadly disease.

Carl has to take some reports to Linda a few days later. Linda doesn't bother to put on her mask, because she knows Carl is vaccinated. She's not going to get the vaccine, because if everyone else does, why would she need to? But Carl isn't immune, and he's carrying the virus Mike brought him that Mike is immune to. Linda, is now sick with COVID.

About three weeks later, Carl and Linda and Kim are all sick. Carl dies a few weeks later. Linda's kidneys shut down in time, and she had permanent lung damage. Kim, the cunt who started it all, is sick for a week or so, and recovers without problems, but her carelessness has killed her friend Carl, ruined the life of her friend Linda, and she's too stupid to even realize it was her fault.

Getting the vaccine is important, not just for you, but for people you care about. And wearing your mask, even after you get the vaccine is important too... if Mike had worn his even after he and Carl got vaccinated, Carl would still be alive and Linda wouldn't need dialysis.

We are all... ALL... responsible for the person next to us, and the people we care about. We are all responsible for not just ourselves, but Kim's mom Karen who died of COVID a week after Carl, and her Grandpa who died two days before that. We are responsible for Linda's 6 year old daughter, who won't get the vaccine because only people 16 and older will get it, and we are all responsible for her brother Dave who can't get the vaccine at all because he's allergic to it.

Don't be a cunt like Kim. Do the right thing.

The appointment was totally out of the blue,  had a text Wednesday with a link and booked it.

Chatting to someone there about it and a few days ago they were totally out of stock of the stuff,  you might be waiting for a time V, ( you young'un)  hehehe    :-* :-*
