Well there is a easy way to solve that problem.  Do what I did.  I save this site to my favorites.  So when I want to come here, I just go to my favorites list an click.  I'm here without having to type or search for this site ever again.

The problem is, that users visit the fake site not accidentally, but following a 'good' advice of good friends...

I'm sorry I'm going to be a little slow on this one.

I'm confused.  If you already know how to get here, why would you need advice from a "friend" on how to get here.  So it sounds like it has to be more behind it.  Are the friends suggestiong that Achat added something new and you should go check out the site?  Something on those lines.
Maybe you should put up a post that says if Achat is ever to add anything new or create a new site, you can find out here.  That way a user can know if any site is legit.

I can't help but think of those Kenyan banking schemes. I always think "How could anyone fall for that?" but if out of 100,000 only one does they can still make some money if they send out 1,000,000+.

By the same token, not everyone knows about the forums and knows there is an active community here.

More then that however I want to paraphrase the late, great, scoundrel P.T. Barnum "A fool and his A$ are soon parted."

There is one girl in AChat, she wants to give you free money and gift; I can't remember her name, as I told her I am not interested and also thought she is just making dirty jokes. Perhaps this is one of the ways the phisher are working?

Yes, exactly. If you type in your password on other sites than funnyadultgamesplay.com, that means you tell your password to strangers.

Tom it is one thing to post here, but have you used your general Public Chat thread to notify the clients who do not read the forum? You probably have a better idea of when peak usage is to get the warning out. Wouldn't take much to get the news out especially if lover has been approached then others have too,...and the current predator could be identified.

I did go to the site (ccbill)she gave me and it was very convincing, it looked like exactly like the site I joinded on

But after viewing there site I went back and told her that it looked like I was just charging my account

Anyway after furher disscussion I was nearly convinced even though I kept telling myself  you dont get anything for nothing

I then got a meesage from a friend saying there was a scam going on and dont give you password out

Told her what was going on and then put warnings up in my profile page

and was telling everybody about it, it went like this

apparently theres people in here that have setup a bogas site

And when you fill in the form  it grabs your password & then your $A

be warned

its ccbill site the same one you join up on

it looks legit   so be carefull ok

take care of anybody offering free $A

fifo was already banned out from the system...

Please be careful if someone promises A$ or other things for FREE. Everything we offer for FREE can be found in the system easily, or will be announced on the homepage, and not by unknown users in the system via private messages.

Thanks for banning her Tom; this is the only right decision to make. Is it possible to create a popup, like Janine suggested?

Another question, now that you are back ;) We have been asking very often for some feedback and some answers to our question here in this forum. As you are still living, can you give us a sign, that this forum is useful for you? Remember, members in this forum are friends of AChat :D

To be fair... this could easily be special circumstances for Tom rather then a full blown return. I mean would we rather have him here? Or coding updates?  ;)

People! There is a reason the site is not listed!!!

To all who read it PLEASE do not give into the curiosity to go check it out. At the very least it would be able to log your ISP. I haven't, and I will admit I was curious, but my Geeky Sense sent up HUGE red flags.

Hey Everyone,

I was one of the unfortunate ones who gave their username and password on that stupid fake website and they accessed my account and stole all my A$ i had almost 900 and they gave it to Futagirl. So i contacted the user and asked for my A$ back. Still no reply i guess he/she can deny ever getting a gift. I changed my password too hope this will prevent them from accessing my account again. I'm sure more people will have this happen to them so BE CAREFUL.

Love Tina xXxx

I'm sure they will prove and ban those criminals. They are answering in this board.

@ TinaGeo:

Neither you can deny to get a gift, nor you can deny to have got a gift (they will see it in their database).

I think TinaGeo means that she got no reply to her trying to get in touch. In words the person can deny they ever received a gift, but this info is stored in a database, so hard proof.

Hello everyone,

Yes it's nice to see so many people care about my situation. I did try contacting Futagirl about my A$ which she received as a gift (not from me) and asked them back, but no response yet! I'm sure it's a fake account but he/she can say that i gave the A$ willingly, which i didn't. Hope i can get them back to get my premium membership back! Thank you all for ur concern i was ready to call it a day and quit Achat forever but since i know that so many people care about this game i'm gonna wait and see hopefully for a fair resolution!!

Love you,

@Tina
What I've learned so far about the A-team and everyone who is an active member in this community (have been active only since general chat started and ended and feel very welcome), is that everyone's aim is to make this game a great experience for everyone. Special efforts for premium members and a lot of sweet, smart, wise and polite people who help out anyone that asks for help. I made a few nice friends on here and I just want to say to anyone who is joined in this community: keep it up and thanks for being warm and welcome!
I hope you feel it this way Tina.

Dear All,

I'm afraid this issue has taken a turn for the worse! I am now unable to access my account in Achat (my avatar denies my password) i am afraid that whoever has my details saw my posts and is now stalking me! i am unable to login on the game, i believe that due to some silly settings you have on the forum i was able to connect and write my final statement.!
This is unacceptable! i've been waiting for a reply from a moderator for almost 48 hours and i'm the one being punished!
Please do something about this Achat is part of my life, my avatar can now be used by THEM and god knows what they are doing to her!
There has to be a solution to this. Please somebody help me!

Didn't you change your password at once? Perhaps you did and now are using your old one?
Has there been any money left on your account?
Did you use the support-form?

The final solution: You create a new account, but I understand you wanna keep your old one.

Hi Again,

Yes i did change my password it was the first thing i did!

However it seems like THEY still had access to my account even after i have changed my password! I've put alot of time and effort into my avatar and spend tons of A$ to own almost everything (even some of the latest dresses)
I cannot check my balance as i have no access to either login at the SHOP or MEMBERS i am however suprised to see my old password giving me access to view the forum. I'm no tech wizard  but i can see something really wrong is going on here and im on the end of almost a year's experiences and friendships which i had with all you here. Just know i love you but if this is the end.. so be it :(

Hi Tina,

you followed an unknown link hoping you will get free stuff and perhaps A$ from a stranger. OK, I can understand that, even if that means, you wanted to cheat AChat developers. This stranger has stolen your password, and was able to login with your name. If you were a user, who has paid and so identified herself, we could give back your avatar. But you have not, so this avatar is dead. I am sure you can understand it if you consider all safety questions.

Regards,
tom

It depends on how they offered the free stuff.  Can't say she was trying to cheat you unless you know how it was offered to her.  Ppl get offered free stuff every day. Fill this out an you'll get a free ipod.  Or the famous flash that says Congrats You Have Won.  Some members just might think they are an Affliate of Achat and all they have to do is fill this out or blah blah and they earned A$s.  Its tricking ppl if this "site" is set up to look like achat or have something to do with it, then the members will think they are doing a legit thing.

Just saying.... ;D

I hope they can give back your actual membership. But either YOU have access or THEY have. This is the question.

Sinnnn sweetie, if someone came up to you and said "Hi, I work for Goodyear tires and if you just had me your car keys I will take your vehicle and be back in an hour, and your car will have four new tires on it."

Would you hand them the keys?

Tina's a friend, and that hasn't changed mentally even if I dropped the compromised id. My sympathy however is more a "I'm sorry you had such a lapse in judgment." then "I'm sorry this happened to you."

A newspaper performed an experiment in Sweden where they handed out a chocolate bar to everyone who told them the password they use mostly on the internet. Apparently alot of people told them their password (not taking into account the ones that lied).

Babe, I feel no sympathy what so ever.  Sorry I just think there is a con around every corner. If you dumb enough to fall for it once, shame on them, fall for it twice double shame on you fool.   I was just saying that everyones intentions(the dupes) are not to steal.  She could have thought it was a legit offer.  Like I said answer a survey an get A$s, blah, blah kind of thing.

I just want to warn everyone that I received a message from a user named "blacky." He was trying to convince me that there was a way for me to get free items and poses from the shop and gave me a link. I won't post the link here for safty reasons like Janine mentioned. I did investigate the link so I could give a good description of what to expect .

He gave me a hyperlink that re-directed me to the site TightFit74 has seen.(I recognized parts of the link) Looks like the hacker copied images and flash codec from here and tried to piece it together on his site. It could be convincing to those who rarely visit the real website. The web address should be enough proof that it's a fraud.

It does have the pink "log in" window in the corner but it doesnt "hide" like the true one here. He created the page on a wbsite called "Ripway.com"

The hacker's website clearly is violation their TOS agreement. I sent an email to their tech support informing them so hopefully the page will be taken down. If anyone else feels compelled to send them an email also to help emphasize the importance to have this page taken down, send it to help@ripway.com

Not much you can do about it except report them. Even if their accounts get removed, they'll just create new ones so it's something you'll just have to accept. If you want to attack the hacker's site directly, send the web host company an email like I did to take it down. Everyone on the forums and the Dev Team are well aware of what's going on.

funny janine nice lil arrogant dig<<this is not an insult but a response to the PASSIVE insult hurled at me by said ''elder member'' sorry, call me unreasonable, and I will respond in kind, and include your name....but Zoey85s right there....first on the list...I'll say it again...the A-Team apparently doesnt have a problem with Zoey85 sending that stuff to people...and it was reported before I posted anything...Im posting because Tom and the team arent doing anything about it......she your friend?....you in on people gettin hacked too?....so take your lil supermember attitude.  Theres no reasoning to be done...Im demanding a member that is sending a dangerous link to others be dealt with and removed.....guess when YOU want someone banned for scamming your friends its reasonable...but because Im not standing for it...Im unreasonable...get a clue!!

@Janine, I suppose wanting a response or reply from an admin concerning this is unreasonable....I may get myself banned from this forum, but if anyone's response to my trying to protect my community is that Im unreasonable....1...you might wanna look inside yourself....2...you support people hacking other members or.....3....youre so in love with reading what you type that you dont care how two-faced you are.....oh step up n post on the forum how one victim needs help, but when a potential victim outsmarts the con....you call them unreasonable...you should be ashamed of yourself

and yeah Im mad postin on this cuz Im pissed...achat has done nothing concerning my report...and a ''hero member'' has takin it upon herself to passively attack and insult me....whats unreasonable is the fact that a person sending out that link is still sitting in achat

Sunny, typing in all caps is basically considered "shouting", pretty much since chatting/posting first started, and if you'll notice now that I brought it up the ranting has been replaced by personal attacks.

Because I should obviously be ashamed of myself for wanting civil behavior.

Title: Re: WARNING! Fake website tries to deceive AChat users.
Post by: islandsun on July 28, 2011, 05:36:21 PM
Fair enough I respect everyones opinion , shouting I gree is not civil !

But people can feel frustrated and lose it , If they feel they have`nt been treated fairly !

Title: Re: WARNING! Fake website tries to deceive AChat users.
Post by: tigershark on July 28, 2011, 05:45:59 PM
you dont give two shits about civil....you just want it your way....and think people should march to your beat....sorry darlin aint happenin here...I dont need anyones permission or approval....and yeah it was passive....only thing is....I dont play that game...someone gets hacked on a site I own.....let em type in caps...and let me get busy clearin it up....but one thing I aint gonna do, is let some person talk around me and call me unreasonable....Im sure youve never used your caps lock key....cuz its obvious you wave your ''hero member'' status like a flag....so youve been around longer n made more posts...big deal!!....I have a problem and the ''a-team'' aint addressing the issue...so if you dont have anything productive to that end...you should maybe keep your posts to yourself...not every comment needs your stamp of approval or disapproval....and YOU ATTACKED ME....and you know it

I don't know of any other courses of action one can take in this case other than those Keiko stated. Contacting the scammers hosting company seems like a really good idea actually.

AChat has sent out a message to everyone and they've made this informative thread on the forum in their efforts to try and inform us about this so it can be prevented. The problem is that when someone has fallen into the trap the damage is already done and even if the offending account is banned I'm afraid the scammers wont really be hurt by this... but sure banning should be done either way.

Adera...let me pose it to you like this......someone attempts to rob you...you call the police...the police take no action...dont reply to you at all....then when you shout to point out the person that tried to rob you is still there and possibly continuing the same behaviours...youre told youre being unreasonable...what is unreasonable is that every day since Zoey85 tried to scam me...they have been the first person that shows on my searches....now what Im saying is if achat is doing anything about this fraud....why is this person still there?...and here it comes...why arent you guys as pissed about this as I am?   and yes I sent the chatlog to admin.   Im not asking for or wanting advice....she didnt get me cuz I was already aware. The reason why I'm not as pissed about this is because I've been made aware of this before being faced with anyone trying to scam me but then again I haven't even been faced with any scamming attempts here myself.

Anyway I do think the scamming sucks and despise the people doing this... but its like the terrorist attack in Norway I feel like its out of my hands.

let me clarify this for you guys......they didnt hack me.....I knew about the fake website....when Zoey85 sent the link I immediately sent the log to admin and exited the room....I'll say it once more....Ive got no response from the admins and Zoey85 is still in achat....my problem is this...I reported the person and I made her name known on the forum....if its a her at all with the rampant gender fraud thats allowed...why is this person not banned?...if they have the resources to make a new account...so be it...but ban the one that PAYING MEMBERS have reported, unless of course, you support them...which by their presence Im forced to believe that the admins dont have a problem with it...thnx for the warning and all but when I send you a chatlog do something about it

I think they're investigating it... or it could be that the ones that can ban are on vacation now.

I think Tigershark voiced his opinion perfectly clear. And, like Janine said, it would be best to try and keep discussions on this matter civil. I'm sure she means speaking with respect to other members, offering solutions, etc. instead of pure emotion.
I understand the need to vent your frustrations but no one here should be subjected to personal attacks.
I think you should have the right to speak your peace and be open to critique and criticism. Janine isn't flaunting her "rank" as you put it, Tigershark.
She's been a member of these boards for a long time and I'm sure she has discussed these kinds of topics multiple times so look to her as you would a wise elder. I'm still a newbie here but I've been treated no differently.

If a paying user's account was hacked, and subsequently restored, then she/he is allowed to play further, for now this is the policy.

I think the question Tigershark wants answered is:

When someone scams/tries to scam another player in AChat and gets reported for it,
will action be taken against the (would-be) scammer and what kind of action?

Personally I'm interested as well, even though no one has ever even attempted to scam me, because I think it's a despicable thing to do. I know you can hardly visit the scammers at home and nail their sensitive parts to a door, but what can we expect to happen to safeguard us from repeating offenses by one and the same person?

Users should use the Ignore function.
In extreme cases, the admins will kick/ban the scammer.

Well done Keiko.

People should note that anything someone says regarding "free" things if you please go to this website is always suspect. If it sounds to good to be true then its not and they are lying to you.

If you are wondering about a site bare in mind instead of going directly to it you can search regarding it and if you have a good Anti-virus like AVG it will warn you about being an attack site or any number of other things.

If it is regarding achat head only to the achat website or to the forums and work backwards to the site. Querying something with people doesn't hurt at all.

If someone is offering you a gifts and your male remember you cant currently receive any and they require your login to get it to you *alarm bells*.
If your female/shemale ask them to send it first as gift button is available.

If they go quiet you know your caught them.

Above all report the site to the Forums and the account to the game support.

A simple email to the domain host to report abuse is usually all it takes. Personally I enjoy ruining a hacker's day by putting an end to his thieving attempts. The design if this site looked familiar to the one I took down before so, I won't be surprised if this page resurfaces on another domain. As always, reporting it here quickly helps us shut it down faster.

There is just so damned much info in here, I guess I just missed this subject somehow. I have been hit up by these people twice. on one of the sites they had the "gallery" page from achat as their homepage. I didn't enter, but reported both to customer service. I have recceived excellent response from cust svc for "my" problems but had no way to check these out after since i didn't want to go back there. lol! never thought about contacting webmaster as keiko suggested! great idea! but just want to re-iterate, customer service does great job!  ;D

Is this a "lost child" of the AChat development process? Or is it a "copycat" trying to capitolize from AChat' using a similar game mechanic? My guess it the former. Since the link to AChat is at the bottom of the page. Plus it seems to have been left behind during the evolution of the game. It sure has peaked my curiosity...  :)
