Tom, perhaps you could post an image as an example of one of your textures and height maps that go together. Or add your thoughts to my height map tutorial that may provide us a clearer understanding of how a height map should work.

Indeed the chat is an important element within the interface. I would even argue that it's the most important element of the game. Without it, AChat would just be A. The chat alone could be improved which has been discussed numerous times on this forum. Just to name a few:

  • -Bring General Chat back
  • -utilize all keys on the average keyboard.
  • -Make the chat a seperate window.
  • -A way to invite another friend to join an existing conversation without going to a 3some room.
  • -use a "Tab" system to organize conversations by user.
  • -Add more emotes
  • -Enable "/emote" code. (Example: "Keiko: /emote dances and sings." would look like this, "Keiko dances and sings."
  • -Enable user-programmable away/busy responses.
  • -Enable messages be sent to the user's inbox if user's busy state is set.
  • -Enable alerts to notify a user when a friend, lover, or spouse has logged in.

I would like to see AChat's Chat rival other chat systems, however, this will require alot if work. But, back to the main topic, the interface.

I remember when poses were first organized into groups. Before, they used to cover nearly a 3rd of the screen because every pose was always visible to be selected. They were in order only by release date, so finding specific poses was difficult. Once they were organized and grouped into categories, it opened up alot more space. As long as I can remember, the Profile/Search pages have always remained the same except for the addition of the busy state button. I think something should be done about the profile search results side of the window. It takes up alot of potential space. It is an important part of the game but it should change depending on what the user is viewing. If the user is viewing a profile, then perhaps the search results can minimize so an extension of that profile can be viewed where the profile pictures normally are.

But if you're more interested in hiding parts of the interface, I would take all the buttons visible on the window and stash them into a common drop-down menu like all the other programs. :)

You all are making me blush, thank-you everyone and I couldn't have made it possible to share my designs without the cooperation and support of the A-Team. I also don't want to forget my fellow designers and everyone on the forums for all your positive feedback. Perhaps this new historical event in AChat's evolution will encourage the persuit in creating a new section in the forums specifically for "Artists" of all kinds to have a place to display their creative works. Your moderators are currently investigating that possibility.  :)

Wow, I am truely humbled by everyone's appriciation for my chinese qipao design. Thank-you all so much. I am so happy to see it finally available for everyone to enjoy. I look forward to Tight and Jeanona's designs when they become available too. This is the start of a great new phase of AChat where user-created content can be shared with the rest of the community. I hope to share more of my designs with everyone in the future. Thanks again *bows*  :)

This has been a pretty popular topic as of recently. Along with the "new rooms" thread is another thread titled, "Poll: Outdoor Sex" (http://www.funnyadultgamesplay.com/forum/index.php/topic,875.0.html)

This one has a more dedicated discussion to outdoor rooms only. Also worth checking out. :)

Welcome to the forum, Taztexan.

For new members, the robots offer a pressure-free environment to explore how pose selection looks and works along with an escape from social activities for those people who want to be alone to satisfy their own desires through visual stimulation.

RB & RG also offer the opportunity to examine sex clothing combinations with poses before committing to a style you want your partner to see. This might be of more interest to the female crowd than males. I'm sure there are other reasons members utilize the robots besides what I mentioned. Although it would be interesting to have access to the robot's pose actions, I think being limited to your own actions will inspire a thirst to socialize and find a real partner to experience them with, which is what AChat is all about. :)

Keiko,

As it currently comes under cosmetics, should we  put REAL FRECKLES on the list?

 :) :)

Yes Blue. Anything that can be applied to the skin, nails, lips, hair but does not alter the structure of the body. (Hairstyles & hair accessories are the exception.) Take note that the chances of having your idea being implemented by the A Team will be greater if you recognize the limitations and restrictions in the game. For example, I know we all love and want long hair, unfortunately the structure and physics for long hair has not been perfected yet. I'm sure the A Team is working on it but until then, styles for short hair will most likely be designed first. Ideas for long hair styles are still welcome.

I don't want to discourage anyone with creative ideas from posting them. Quite the contrary, I want to encourage everyone to consider the possibility that, even if their idea does not win by popular vote, it does not guarantee that the A Team will not possibly develop it in the future. So let those creative juices flow :)

Artist's Alley / Re: Height Map Tutorial for Texture Editing
« on: May 06, 2012, 09:47:51 PM »
Hi Heiko,

Just a question...how do you add it as a background?

I'm not sure I understand your question,  Susana. Are you asking how to make just the colored texture image, not the height map?

Looks great keiko, more a technical question... In the viewer for the designs, you can load the map as a seperate file. Any idea how that works? When you have made a HM, do you save that as a seperate file? And what format does that file have? .png as well?

I'm just flusterred with the HM's.. :)

The map has to be a seperate file. You should have 2 files for each texture. 1 is the original color texture image, the other is almost like a photocopy of the original. So when you use the viewer, you must load your texture, then load the height map. Again you cannot save the height map to the existing texture as something like a 2nd layer. It needs to be it's own file. To get it just right requires alot of trial and error. Lots and lots of tweaking. It can be a bit more difficult than designing a texture so you need alot of practice and patience.  :)

I posted a Height Map tutorial for the easiest way I found personally to design a fast and easy basic HM. Not sure if it's correct. I will use this technique to create HMs for my textures the best I can. If you don't like how they look or prefer to make a different HM for my texture, that's fine.   :)
