U.S. military pilot Gail S. Halvorsen — known as the “Candy Bomber” for his candy airdrops during the Berlin airlift after World War II ended — has died at 101.

Halvorsen died Wednesday at his home in Utah after a brief illness, said James Stewart, the director of the Gail S. Halvorsen Aviation Education Foundation.

Halvorsen was beloved and venerated in Berlin, which he last visited in 2019 when the city celebrated the 70th anniversary of the day the Soviets lifted their post-War World II blockade cutting off supplies to West Berlin with a big party at the former Tempelhof airport in the German capital.

          Tuesday Story

The other day, a beautiful, talented young woman who went by the name of Nightbirde and had a voice like an Angel, died after battling cancer. She was 31 years old.
When Nightbirde appeared on America’s Got Talent, she sang an original song called ” It’s Ok” and touched millions of hearts.

          ” We’re all a little lost and it’s all right…
it’s all right… to be lost sometimes.” 🎶🎶

I remember watching her with tears streaming down my face thinking, “Even with a very slim chance of survival, this courageous woman is standing on a stage singing and lifting up an entire audience. What an incredible human being!”

Howie Mandel honored Nightbirde with these words…
” Nightbirde was a bright inspirational light in our lives. We must continue to live and learn from her words and lyrics.”

I think about what I’ve learned from Nightbirde in the short time she touched my life
It’s alright to feel lost sometimes…

“Vi lang vi mir kenen gefinen aundzer veg heym.”

As long as we can find our way home.

“You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”~ Nightbirde

James Caan: Oscar-nominated actor and Godfather star dies at 82 on 6th July 2022.

it was 1972’s mob drama epic The Godfather that saw him become a household name.

Caan had originally auditioned for the role of Michael Corleone, and was reportedly favoured for the role by studio executives.

But after Coppola’s insistence, Al Pacino was chosen for that role.

His death, in an assisted living facility, was confirmed by Bob McGowan, his manager. No cause was given.

Acting legend Bernard Cribbins has passed away at the age of 93.
Bernard Joseph Cribbins OBE (29 December 1928 – 28 July 2022) was an English actor and singer whose career spanned seven decades.

Cribbins rose to fame in the 1960s as a comedy actor in the Carry On franchise and as the singer of novelty songs including top 10 hit Right Said Fred.

He subsequently became a star of children’s television, serving as a regular reader on Jackanory and providing narration for The Wombles, as well as taking on the title role in CBeebies show Old Jack’s Boat.

Cribbins went on to portray Wilfred Mott — grandfather of Catherine Tate’s character — during the David Tennant era of Doctor Who

He also stared as Albert Perks in The Railway Children, a 1970 British family drama film based on the 1906 novel of the same name by E. Nesbit.

Perhaps the most significant work of Nichelle Nichols can be measured in how kids of my generation never knew to question her place onboard the Enterprise as Communications Officer Nyota Uhura. She was there, and it made sense, so who were we to examine it? When I saw Lieutenant Uhura and Captain Kirk make out in the episode Plato’s Stepchildren, I thought it was just another dramatic scene in an excellent narrative arc. I didn’t learn until much later – when I was in college – that that was the first interracial kiss in the history of television in the United States. Because of Nichelle Nichols, I never even thought it was a big deal that she – a black woman – was an officer in Star Fleet.

                                  It just made sense.

Though, of course, her portrayal of Uhura was a massive cultural shift in our benighted land.

By casting Nichelle Nichols as Lieutenant Uhura, Gene Roddenberry – and Nichols herself – helped establish the template of the better, more just world they were contemplating through the creation of Star Fleet. For my peers in Generation X, they slipped the mightily subversive concept of race and gender equality into our thinking before anyone else could fill our brains with the pervasive and contrary garbage of the five preceding centuries.

It didn’t fix everything, of course, and didn’t impact everyone the same way. Still, as with all butterfly effects, if you remove Nichelle Nichols from the Desilu Production facilities in 1966-1969 – and therefore from the deck of the USS Enterprise from 2266-2269 – then there’s a mighty strong argument that our world in 2022 is an even less enlightened place than it has become.

So, beautiful queen, as you pass from this world and onward to the Final Frontier, I’d like to say thank you and promise that, at least with Gen-X science-fiction geeks like me, the mission most certainly continues.

Scotty, one most righteous sister and guide to beam up.
