Legendary rock guitarist Jeff Beck dies aged 78 on 10 January 2023, East Sussex
Beck rose to fame with the Yardbirds before fronting the Jeff Beck Group and making forays into the jazz-fusion sound he pioneered
Jeff Beck, the celebrated guitarist who played with the Yardbirds and led the Jeff Beck Group, has died aged 78, his representative has confirmed.
Beck died on Tuesday after “suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis”, the representative confirmed. “His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss,” they added.
Often described as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, Beck – whose fingers and thumbs were famously insured for £7m – was known as a keen innovator. He pioneered jazz-rock, experimented with fuzz and distortion effects and paved the way for heavier subgenres such as psych rock and heavy metal over the course of his career. He was an eight-time Grammy winner, recipient of the Ivor Novello for outstanding contribution to British music and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame both as a solo artist and as a member of the Yardbirds.
Musicians and longtime friends began paying tribute minutes after the news broke. On Twitter, Jimmy Page wrote, “The six stringed Warrior is no longer here for us to admire the spell he could weave around our mortal emotions. Jeff could channel music from the ethereal. His technique unique. His imaginations apparently limitless. Jeff I will miss you along with your millions of fans.”
“With the death of Jeff Beck we have lost a wonderful man and one of the greatest guitar players in the world,” Mick Jagger wrote. “We will all miss him so much.”
Rod Stewart, who toured with the Jeff Beck Group in the late 60s, called him “one of the few guitarists that when playing live would actually listen to me sing and respond … you were the greatest, my man. Thank you for everything.”

We express adoration for the feminine principle, we express our complete love and appreciation of the feminine essence in all her forms.
This ritual originated in India, thousands of years ago. There are many various forms in which this ritual can be performed.
An important prerequisite for worshipping the yoni is the purification of the mind from worldly ideas about yoni, of the shame and guilt most of us carry.With the yoni puja we express reverence in front of the mystery of the Universe, of Shakti, the divine mother.
The ritual can be performed on a symbol: a sculpture or an object representing a yoni… or on a yoni in her living form.A yoni puja can be an incredible gift that you can offer to your female partner or friend.
A woman can also perform a yoni puja for herself.It is extremely powerful to perform it on a real yoni.
But if you are not comfortable with it, or the circumstances are not appropriate for whatever reason, performing on a symbol is also very beautiful.
As a symbol we can use a yoni-shaped crystal, a shell or even a papaya cut in half.You can create your own rituals but it is very important to keep the attitude of love and devotion towards the Shakti, the Mother (Goddess of creation) in all her forms throughout the entire ritual.
Some Suggestions to include in your ritual
1. Start by preparing the physical space and transforming it into a sacred space. Use candles, beautiful fabrics, fragrant oils and flowers to set up the space.
2. Once everything is ready you may utter some words expressing your devotion to the Universal mother, offer her prayers and admiration for the creation of the female form.
3. Then move into the phase of silent contemplation – gazing at the yoni (or the symbol) with love, honor and reverence.
4. Make offerings to the yoni as a symbol of the Goddess or the Mother of the Universe. You may offer her candles, incense, flowers.
5. Stage 5 can be the ending meditation phase. Here we are silently contemplating the mystery of the Shakti, the divine mother.
6. And conclude the ritual with chanting “Om”.
